Lower blepharoplasty

Lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) addresses puffiness, under-eye 'bags' and excess skin below the eyes to create a smoother, more rested appearance — without changing the natural shape of the eye.

What it involves

It focuses on removing or repositioning the fat that causes bags and tightening the skin, through incisions placed within natural creases or fine lines so scars are well concealed. It may be performed under local or general anaesthetic.

Who it may suit

May suit patients troubled by under-eye puffiness, bags or a tired appearance — whether from ageing, genetics or recurrent swelling such as allergies.

Recovery

Swelling and bruising settle over one to two weeks, with most patients back to normal activities within about a week. Once the fatty bags are removed they generally do not return, though natural ageing continues.

This page is a general guide. Every procedure is planned individually — the details, risks and recovery relevant to you are discussed at consultation.

Common questions

Will it look natural?
The goal is a refreshed, rested look rather than a 'done' appearance — the eye's natural shape is preserved and only what is needed is removed.
